Tudor Hall School celebrates the Duke of Edinburghʼs 90th Birthday with a bronze expedition
T
udor Hall School celebrated the
Duke of Edinburgh’s 90th birthday by arranging the largest ever Duke of Edinburgh Award Bronze expedition at the school.
52 girls divided into eight teams, took part in the expedition. The girls walked 15km on the first day and were responsible for navigating and finding their way on the various footpaths and bridleways in the local area. After their long walk the teams arrived in camp and had to pitch tents as well as cook supper. Despite the long
day, spirits were high and the campsite was a vibrant place with lots of games being played right up to bedtime. Sunday saw a change in the weather, but not a dampening of spirits. The girls set off bright and early for the 9km walk back to school. Over the course of the expedition, the teams once again demonstrated their wonderful spirit but in addition
to this, they proved to be excellent navigators! The school have high hopes for the assessment weekends in September and look forward to seeing many of the girls on the Silver programme.
