Katlyn’s background has a bit of a unique hybrid niche of

trades: cosmetology and photography. One of the ways that Katlyn is able to capture a bride’s charm or a model’s unique features is her understanding of her subjects’ physical strengths. After high school, she attended the now defunct McIntosh College in Dover, NH. It was there she studied under well-known photographers, Chris Shipley, Jay Reiter, Christine Palie, and Allan Wood. After receiving her Associates in Photography in 2006 she knew understanding cosmetology would help separate her from the pack of emerging hobbyist photographers in the area. So she enrolled in Michael’s School of Hair Design & Esthetics: A Paul Mitchell Partner School two weeks after graduating.

Today, Katlyn has left a pretty big footprint in the New England

photography scene; doing shoots from as far North as Oxford, Maine, to as far South as Atlanta, Georgia. She’s opened her first studio, just 5 miles from her home Hampstead, NH off route 121A in Sandown, NH. It is there that she can focus on telling real stories and finding the color in them regardless of how dark or how light. Stylistically, one could argue that Katlyn’s photographs almost resem- ble illustrations of a fantasy world. Making simple wedding shoots look like the Disney movies we all grew up loving.

For bands, whether it’s a solo acoustic act or an aggressive,

thunderous metal band, Katlyn has a knack for capturing the pinnacle of musicians’ emotions. While Katlyn enjoys photographing up and coming bands and musicians she also has done several shoots with mainstream artist. Katlyn’s photographs pop out because they’re col- orful, fun and well matched to help define any artist, musician, model or other subjects’ style.

Now that she has solidified a consistent way to colorfully tell

stories in her own style, she’d like to apply her skills to the masses. She has no problem passionately planning a simple graduation or wedding shoot the same way she would a signed band’s album cover. “ I think there’s a lot of fun and interesting ways to make anyone’s generic graduation or wedding pictures into something magical, fun, and unique,” the twenty-four year old said. Over the next year, she’ll continue booking her weddings, portraits, events, in addition to her fashion and band shoots. During her downtime, she’ll be joining some bands on tour as their exclusive photographer. Feel free to check out some additional work of Katlyn’s at:
