James Bishop, moved from a successful career in the banking industry to opening his own business which sells among other things novelty soaps.
That
Card Shop, which opened in December 2010 is a
beautiful shop on Eltham High Street. It carries unique products that are proving very popular with locals that are looking for good old-fashioned personal service and something that is a little different.
The selection of interesting items on sale include, Jelly babies which look and smell like the edible sweets except these are pure soap, also soap doughnuts, Space Invaders and Lego men. Sensibly enough the
products are all labelled with a warning that they are not edible
That Card Shop is proud of its bath bombs which come in such unique flavours as baby powder, cookies and cream and interestingly enough sea breeze.
It’s not all bath products; there are also beautiful gifts for the home and a large selection of handmade cards.
James believes that his shop, unique on the high street, gives his customers an opportunity to buy products not

BUSINESS ELTHAM Doughnut Soap and Fresh Linen Scents
available in the large chain stores. Further, he is happy to try to source interesting and unique gifts for his customers that are looking for something a bit different.
James said "I wanted to sell things that were different. I wanted people to remember my shop as the place where they brought the perfect gift, at a reasonable price".
While all the products are available online with free delivery, James insists that visiting the shop is an experience not to be missed.
"Customers don't want to leave" said James, "They come in for a card and just have to touch the soft toys and smell the candles. My favourite is the scent of fresh linen".
As Eltham isn't short on places to buy cards, but That Card Shop is carving a niche market built on personal service and truly unique products.
