PENDLE Pub Walk is back - and this year’s event should prove to be bigger and better than ever – especially as the walk’s chosen charity for 2011 is Pendleside Hospice. The hospice was chosen in response to many people's suggestions – it’s a wonderful local institution that has touched the lives of so many people in the area. So what better reason to don your hiking boots? The 10 mile circular walk – scheduled for Saturday 18th June - will begin in Barley and pass through some of Pendle's most stunning scenery, stopping off at some of the area’s finest pubs as waypoints. As you stop off at the pubs en route, you’ll be able to sample a special beer produced by event sponsors, Moorhouse’s! The walk begins in Barley and takes in a swathe of Pendle countryside as it traverses Pendleside villages and stunning scenery at every turn. Whilst the walk is ten miles long, it’s a fairly gentle route and the pubs provide welcome points to rest and refresh whilst meeting up with fellow walkers. Last year’s event had a fantastic atmosphere, as people walked together in groups, making new friends and socialising all the way round. The walk was completed by young and old – the poster to the left shows the two Jacks – our youngest and oldest walkers respectively, at seven years old and eighty years old! If you’re interested in participating in the walk, sponsoring walkers or becoming a business sponsor for the event, you can find out more information from the website. Why not come along with friends and family and have a brilliant day out in beautiful Pendle! Everyone is welcome on the walk - registration is open and costs just £10.
