DR Auctions expands to two nights per week

By Robin Wilson Every Tursday and Friday night,

the old Trading Post building lo- cated on the corner of New Leicester Highway and North Turkey Creek Road begins to buzz with activity. Tis new auction house has cre-

ated quite a stir in the Leicester com- munity; wherever you go the people are talking about it. Te auction house opened in October, but due to popularity, added a second night last month. “We average about five to 10 new

customers per week and about 40 or so people at each auction,” said own- er David Roland. Te auction brings a wide variety of items including new and used as well as antique and collectibles. Dealers come to buy and sell as well as individuals. “I have been coming here since

the second sale in October and come every Tursday and Friday. I buy stuff for my granddaughter who has a place at the flea market. It is a friendly and fun place,” said cus- tomer Jim McKean. Te building that occupies the

auction house was previously a con- venience store run by Roland for four years before he opened the auction. Te building is known as the Trad- ing Post because it has been a fixture in Leicester for many years operat- ing as a grocery/convenience store. Roland decided he wanted to go into the auction business and received his license from Southeastern School of Auctioneering last August. Roland is available to do estate

sales, benefit and charity auctions. Call 775-9317 for more informa- tion.
