Prior to in vivo assessment on human volunteers and as an alternative to animal testing, in vitro models and laboratory testing services provide relevant and reliable biological information in order to bring a strong scientific added-value to products such as characterization of activities, safety evaluations or mechanistic data. This added-value to products supports decision making processes in the research development and/or marketing phase. StratiCELL also performs biological activity testing on monolayer cell cultures (keratinocytes, fibroblasts, melanocytes, etc), on reconstituted human epithelia (oral, intestine, vaginal ...) and on human skin biopsies (ex vivo testing).
Skin Care benefit endpoints include skin and dermal ageing, cell senescence, free radicals, epidermal homeostasis, cohesion and structure, pigmentation, epidermal barrier, immune skin defence, inflammation, wound healing, UV stress and damage, low to medium throughput gene expression profiling, etc. This is not exhaustive, and StratiCELL scientists are all open to discuss how to fit the best with your idea, and are all enthusiastic to make it a reality.
Safety testing endpoints include in vitro methods for cytotoxicity, dermal toxicity (OECD 439 and 431), photo-induced toxicity (OECD 432), eye and vaginal irritation (using corneal and vaginal epithelia), embryo-toxicity (EST), etc. StratiCELL has a strong R&D commitment and continuously develops methods and models to address and support your new and innovative claims, and bring added value to your products. StratiCELL strongly believes that personalization of skin care and cosmetics is a major trend for the future, and builds its strategy on customization of the tests and models and flexibility in the design of the protocols. Skin connectivity with other organs is also a major point of interest of StratiCELL, with models that have to be refined to address the cross-talk between cell types, including keratinocytes, fibroblasts, melanocytes, immune cells, sensory neurons, adipocytes, sebocytes, vascular cells and stem cells.
