Double the innovation
Visit Honeywell and see two new Asensa® ingredients
for the personal care industry – a biopolymer that improves hold in hair care products, and a thickener for high salt and extreme pH emulsions. The biopolymer, Asensa NFF 11, is derived from
corn starch and offers many of the features of synthetic polymers. It has been salon tested in hair- styling gel formulations to show hold and curl- resistance control even in very humid conditions. The thickener, Asensa RC 880, provides stability to emulsions that have high electrolyte levels (up to 5% sodium chloride) or to formulations with low pH. RC 880 also provides cushiony sensory aesthetics to lotions and creams. These two new products will help solve some of the cosmetics industry’s toughest problems and are an example of how Honeywell’s line of Asensa ingredients continues to grow.

Natural cosmetics with an excellent skin feel
At in-cosmetics 2011, Sisterna is launching several formulation concepts using sucrose esters. Based on sucrose and vegetable fatty acids, Sisterna®
esters are extremely mild and provide moisturizing emulsifiers suitable for use in certified natural cosmetics. A wide range of products (HLB 0-16) enables the use of sucrose esters in all cosmetic applications.
Skincare
A simple manufacturing technique allows the production of gels to turn into milk when diluted. Sisterna®
sucrose esters provide
an excellent touch in sprays, lotions and creams such as a ‘soothing face and body mist’, ‘mummy and baby bedtime lotion’ and ‘shimmering day cream’.
Decorative cosmetics Sucrose esters show a positive skin-feel effect in Sisterna’s recently launched O/W and W/O natural foundations. Our special grade Sisterna A10E-C helps decrease blooming and sweating in lipstick and improves the consistency of the stick. The low HLB sucrose esters also demonstrate a binding effect in compact powders.
Cleansing cosmetics Foam and conditioning properties are improved in mild cleansing formulations, such as a ‘mild baby & toddler cleansing foam’ and ‘natural shower gel’. In addition to their extreme mildness, they are also an option for use in leave-on foams such as ‘self-tanning foam’.

A closer examination
Canfield is launching a revolutionary new dermatoscope at in-cosmetics 2011. Combining the
technology of an iPhone® with Schneider Optics and Canfield’s exclusive Dual Mode LED lighting, DermScope™
provides
the highest quality viewing with unprecedented magnification. The result is an accelerated skin examination with increased confidence in the results.
As an added benefit, the examination is
more comfortable for both clinician and patient because the physician can view lesions more accurately from the high resolution display. And the communications power of an iPhone offers instant integration capabilities with the patient chart along with unlimited tele-consultation possibilities.
