First for Italy
Archimede Ricerche Srl, part of the A&A Fratelli Parodi group (Genoa), has opened the first industrial plant for microalgae biomass in Italy. The company produces high quality biomass
of different species such as Nannochloropsis, Isochrysis, Tetraselmis and Chaetoceros, for the use in the nutraceutical and natural cosmetics fields. Thanks to the process competences and the scientific expertise, Archimede Ricerche has
developed not only an industrial photo- bioreactors system, but also an integrated and sustainable process. The required energy comes from both direct sunlight, thanks to the algae photosynthetic function, and the heat of an endotermic co-generative station powered by vegetable oil.

Boosting skin self defensive systems
At in-cosmetics 2011, IRB will present a new green biotech cosmetic ingredient specifically designed to maximise the self protection of skin from external stresses. Based on Marrubium vulgare
cultured stem cells, this product contains forsythoside B, a potent inducer of skin endogenous defence mechanisms by activation of Nrf2 transcription factor. Forsythoside B belongs to phenylpropanoids, natural substances physiologically designed to protect the plants from environmental stresses, which can be obtained by the in vitro cultivation of plant cells. Plant cell cultures allow the sourcing of highly active plant ingredients through a fully eco-sustainable process with a superior level of standardisation and maximized end-user safety. IRB will be also present at the in- cosmetics 2011 in-focus feature "Sustainable Beauty" to show the huge green resource saving achieved in using its biotech ingredients.
IRB srl, Stand H36 Petrolatum alternative
The International Group (IGI) has introduced a natural vegetable petrolatum replacement called Sebapet. Sebapet utilizes a unique combination of vegetable oils which mimic the fatty acid and esters found in natural skin sebum. Sebapet also uses a natural gelling technology which has never been incorporated into a petrolatum replacement before. This technology enables Sebapet to maintain its integrity when used in emulsion
systems. Sebapet has significantly different esthetics than conventional petrolatums, but still maintains occlusive properties. Sebapet will find applications in creams, lotions, lip care products, body washes and may other applications where petrolatum properties are required but a natural product is necessary.

An entirely new range
BRB is launching a range of silicone cross polymers at in-cosmetics 2011. Cross polymers are unique products acting as thickening agents for water-in-oil and water- in-silicone formulations, compatible with a variety of lipophilic active ingredients such as fragrances, sunscreens, vitamins etc. They provide dry smoothness and a light silky, non- greasy feel to the skin.
BRB Silicones, Stand R12 New beginnings
Alban Muller International has moved its head office into the heart of Cosmetic Valley. The Alban Muller Group merged three of its entities: Alban Muller International, Alban Muller Industrie and Adonis, to form a single company called Alban Muller International. While keeping its sites of Vincennes and
Montreuil, near Paris, Alban Muller International has decided to set up its head office in Fontenay-sur- Eure, near Chartres, France, where the manufacturing site of the group is already based. This step highlights its involvement in Cosmetic
Valley and reinforces its eco-responsible commitment. Alban Muller International, Stand S74
