FINAL THOUGHT Happy 70th Anniversary GHBA!

15th year with the association which is a milestone, but not nearly long enough to fully appreciate all of the history of this great organization. I have seen positive change and progress in the past 15 years, but I know that the leaders, the members, the men and women who pioneered GHBA and have driven it along all of these years are the pillars of the association. Over the next year we hope to share some of the “stories” with you. And if you have stories (that are repeatable) please contact me so we may include them.

On that note, everyone plan to attend the 2011 Extravaganza and 70th anniversary celebration. Currently set for Friday, February 4, this will be a great party if you all participate. Mike Dishberger will be sworn in as the new GHBA president, along with the other officers and board members. The
hat’s right! Next month, in 2011, GHBA will be 70 years young. Chartered in 1941, GHBA is one of the older home builders associations in the country. 2011 marks my
winners of the “Builder of the Year,” “Custom Builder of the Year,” “Developer of the Year,” "Remodeler of the Year" and “Associate of the Year” will be announced. Outgoing President Kevin Holland will be honoring some members with Presidential Citations for 2010. And we hope to have a special anniversary production for you. All of the details will follow shortly so watch your emails, but mark the evening of February 4, 2011 on your calendar right now!
We do not expect 2011 to be all that much better than 2010 economically speaking, but let’s all do our best to make it positive, educational and fun. Remember that 2011 is also a state legislative year, so all you government affairs types need to gear up. And if you haven’t experienced Rally Day before, join us as we storm the Texas Capitol on February 23! Talk about an interesting and exciting time—don’t miss it!
