REMODELORS COUNCIL NEWS

Remodelors Council board secretary and, in turn, begin the long process of climbing the board ladder to join the Remodelors Council elite. At that time Allen and I were training

for the

upcoming Houston Marathon. It was late fall of 2007, Bill Shaw was at the helm and Jeff Hunt was about to take the reins.

I

had been on the board for two years at that point and had no plans to climb the RMC ladder and become president.

My response to Allen at the time was not just no—it was hell no. I wanted nothing to do with the politics and the responsibility of running the largest Remodelors Council in the country. Being in charge of a group of Type A personalities volunteering their time had about as much appeal as doing 20 mile training runs.

SILVER

After long discussions with the Remodelors Council past presidents, my wife and my business partners, I eventually decided to accept that invitation to climb the ladder and become the 2010 RMC president.

I

felt compelled to make a difference in our organization and to raise the bar in the remodeling industry.

Article by 2010 RMC President Wayne Ball, CGR, CAPS of Lone Star Building & Construction Services Inc.

By the time this publication goes to print, my tenure will be almost over and Rob Hellyer and team will be taking the reins. I want to thank all of my board members who have worked tirelessly

Planning for a Better 2011 I

t seems like it was just the other day when Allen Griffin asked me to be his

for the Remodelors Council over the last year and have helped in leading this great organization. Without these dedicated individuals who have given so many hours of their free time, our organization would have suffered greatly. Please join me in thanking each of the following individuals for their effort and dedication.

• Allen Griffin, Past President • Rob Hellyer, Vice President • John Gillette, Secretary • John Madsen, Treasurer • Warren Clark, Public Relations Chair • Maggie Medellin, Speakers and Sponsors Chair

• Phil Messarra, Charity Chair • Larissa Michael, Membership Chair • Scott Reach, Education Chair • Salty Thomason, Education Chair

Not all superstars are on the board of directors and many volunteer time and time again without a hint of recognition. Special thanks go out to all those dedicated members who find time to support our endeavors.

I have only one regret: that this long journey from 2007 until now is about to end. I will hand off the gavel to Rob Hellyer and the new 2011 board of directors at the Remodelors Council Holiday Party on Tuesday, December 14. I feel a void that is going to be hard to fill, as I have had the opportunity to lead the brightest people I have ever known.

Thank you for allowing me to serve. 40 DECEMBER 2010 | HOUSTON BUILDER | GREATER HOUSTON BUILDERS ASSOCIATION – BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE
