contributions to the development of The Woodlands community. The honor comes with the enthusiastic approval of The Woodlands’ founder, George P. Mitchell, and the Mitchell family. Heineman is the second recipient of the award, which is given from time to time as appropriate, rather than annually. The first recipient was Michael G. Page, honored in 2009.

The award was presented to Heineman by Alex Sutton and Tim Welbes, co-presidents of The Woodlands Development Co.

Taylor Morrison Champions Adopt-a-Family Project

Each year Taylor Morrison's involvement in GHBA’s “Frank Aranza Adopt-a-Family Project” grows. Last year the Houston division adopted five families—two single moms, grandparents who were raising their grandchildren and an elderly woman. The company donated car loads of terrific bikes, helmets, gifts of clothing, household goods, gift cards and food to the annual charity project.

Mary Papinchak and Kayla Blanton won Taylor Morrison's Volunteer of the Quarter for the East Region earlier this year for their involvement. Steve VonHofe, Mary Papinchak and Kayla Blanton awarded a $500 Peak Performance Award on August 12 to Frank Aranza, and D’Nita Kuhn, special events director at the GHBA to jumpstart this year’s program. Thank you, Mary and Kayla, for making a difference in the lives of others.

Christmas is right around the corner, and GHBA looks forward to its upcoming Adopt-a-Family Project, set for December 4, 2010. To get involved, contact D’Nita Kuhn at dkuhn@ghba.org.

Robert Heineman Receives Mitchell Award at Woodlands 2010 Celebration of Excellence

Robert J. Heineman, vice president of planning for The Woodlands Development Company, was awarded the prestigious Mitchell Award at The Woodlands 2010 Celebration of Excellence, held on Saturday, October 2. The annual event is a benefit for Interfaith of The Woodlands.

The Mitchell Award was created to honor those who have made invaluable

Robert Heineman has been involved in the planning of The Woodlands from its inception, encompassing more than 38 years with The Woodlands Development Company. He has been vice president of planning for the past 26 years. Heineman has been recognized by his peers for “dramatically shaping The Woodlands into an international model for community development.” His now famous early drawing of The Woodlands Town Center laid the groundwork for the 1,000-acre Town Center and development of The Woodlands Waterway®.

“Robert has been involved in every aspect of the planning of The Woodlands, and has helped raise the bar for master- planned community development in the U.S. and internationally,” said Sutton and Welbes. “He has been very instrumental in taking George Mitchell’s vision for The Woodlands and making it a reality.”

The Woodlands is a 28,000-acre master- planned community located 27 miles north of downtown Houston. It is a project of The Woodlands Development Company, a limited partnership of Morgan Stanley and General Growth Properties.

On the Move with ACES Builders Warranty

ACES Builders Warranty announces its recent move to The Woodlands, Texas. The company's new headquarters are located at 431 Nursery Road, 77380.

In 2011, the company will begin its 17th year serving Texas builders with a 10-year new home warranty.

"The industry has weathered some tough times over the past three years", said Max Hoyt, president of ACES. "We have learned from past mistakes, not from our successes. Most of our builder members remember tight times in 1985 and 1998, the failure of S&L's, warranty companies that were over- extended and tight construction lending policies," Hoyt continues. "Consequently those that remembered adjusted their operations quickly; many that did not are no longer in business."

ACES has issued more than 50,000 warranties for Texas builders.

The

company's dispute resolution system continues to limit lawsuits between homeowners and homebuilders very effectively.

ACES proudly serves the warranty needs of more than 400 Texas builders including Trendmaker Homes, Design Tech Homes,
