As I approach the end of my SMC presidency, I am reflecting on this past year and have much to be grateful for and many people to thank. The first person on my list is D’Nita Kuhn. D’Nita is never selfish with her time or talents, always has her door open (literally) and has allowed me the ability to realize the dream of reinventing what SMC means to the members of the GHBA.

I want to also thank the SMC Executive Committee: Ashleigh Genzer, Trish Josephs, Lona Alexander, Amy Haywood-Rino and Terry Dawson for not only supporting my role, but more importantly for your friendship throughout the year.

Thank you to the SMC committees for trying new things this year and making each event,

including the Houston’s Best Awards, a success. You each hold a unique talent that made this year’s SMC board of directors one of the greatest.

A HUGE THANKS to all the GHBA members who attended the various SMC events. Thank you to Brittany Feldmann for allowing those last minute articles, editing each one of them to perfection and making the SMC page the best looking page in the book.

Last by not least I would like to thank my family: husband, Bill Ellison; daughter, Kristen Ellison; son, Ross Ellison; mom, Connie Zachar and dad, Tom Zachar for everything you have given me…life and love.

I hope you all know my gratitude is sincere.
