PROJECT INDEPENDENCE DEDICATED AT RMC LUNCHEON
Project Independence, a HomeAid Care project, was officially celebrated and dedicated at the November Remodelors Council luncheon. The project, led by numerous members of the GHBA Remodelors Council, was the design, renovation and restoration of five apartments and two common area bathrooms for Santa Maria's Spring Branch location. These apartments will be used to assist Santa Maria in its efforts to support and serve homeless female veterans.
Leslie King, HomeAid board member and chair of HomeAid Care projects, led the dedication ceremony. Leslie was also one of the many remodelers involved in the project. Awards were presented to the generous remodeler captains, vendors, interior designers and volunteers. Kay Austin with Santa Maria spoke to the audience, and Crystal, a special guest and resident of Santa Maria, shared her story.
The mission of Santa Maria is to empower women and their children to become alcohol and drug free, and the agency is committed to providing services for community improvement and enrichment.
The Remodelors Council provided remodelers and associates, who worked in teams to demolish and completely refurbish the apartment bathrooms. In addition, designers “beautified” the apartments, providing fresh paint, new linens, furniture, storage solutions and special touches.
