Over the last three decades the company has invested some R14bn in new tourism infrastructure. In South Africa, Sun International has casino licenses in eight of the nine provinces and has 13 of the 40 casino licenses available in this country.
It has an approximate 41 per cent market share in the overall GGR in South Africa. Total revenue for 2009/10 was R8bn. During the last financial year, one per cent of profit after tax was committed to social investment, with a 1.5 per cent of profit after tax contribution to enterprise development. The total spend on corporate social investment spend was R20m.

WILDCOASTSUN,BIZANA This casino opened in December 1981 by Sun International with a total capital investment of R333m. It is set on the one of the most unspoiled beaches in southern Africa. The resort is set on 750 hectares of natural bush land and overlooks the Indian Ocean. There are 437 slots and 14 tables and 659,323 visitors.
HEMINGWAYSCASINO,EASTLONDON Operated by Tsogo Sun Emonti (Tsogo Sun Casino) this opened in September 2001 for a total capital investment of R222m. There are 392 slots and 12 tables in 1,803 sq.m of gaming area. The building is one of the most beautiful in South Africa and inspired by the ‘Key West’ home of Ernest Hemingway. There are two conference rooms and a luxury four star hotel. It is built on 11 hectares and attracts 1.3 million visitors annually.
QUEENSCASINO,QUEENSTOWN This was opened in December 2007 and is operated by Lukhanji Leisure (Gold Reef Resorts) with a total capital investment of R125m. The casino has a railway theme including a steam locomotive which is housed there. It has

180 slots and six tables and saw 261,294 visitors through the doors. Revenues were up by 12 per cent at the casino last year to R51m.
