company’s focus has been on establishing its initial five casinos – Montecasino in Johannesburg, Suncoast in Durban, The Ridge in Witbank, Emnotweni in Nelspruit and Hemingways in East London. Then in 2009 the company acquired two casinos from Century Casinos - The Caledon Casino, Hotel and Spa and Century Casino Newcastle which has since been renamed Blackrock Casino.
Meanwhile, the company is due to complete a merger with Gold Reef Resorts that is expected to be finalised by the end of this year and is currently awaiting regulatory approvals. Apparently the Competition Commission has recommended that the merger be approved on the condition the new entity sells the money spinning Silverstar Casino.
Being forced to sell Silverstar would be a huge blow as it is the newest casino to be built in Gauteng and has become a huge money spinner for Gold Reef and the groups are vigorously opposed to the recommendations.
