ball in the end zone on the game’s final play to give Erwin its first victory of the young season. Only two minutes into the first quar-
ter, Erwin’s Trey Clark drew first blood as he caught a 60-yard touchdown pass
from quarterback Garrett Brown. Te Warhorses soon came back with
a 50-yard pass from Owen quarterback Kaleb Fowler to receiver Travis Frizsell for a touchdown. A missed extra point kept the score at 7-6. Te Owen defense capitalized on an
interception as running back Austin Davis found the end zone late in the first quarter to give Owen a 13-7 edge. Erwin (1-1) fired back with a 23-yard strike from Brown to receiver Max Eat-
mon to regain the lead. Te back and forth continued when,
with less than five minutes remain- ing in the half, Owen’s Matt Marino snagged a spectacular catch in the cor- ner of the end zone, putting the War- horses back on top 20-14 heading into the half. Te Warhorses began pulling away
