Dartmouth Galleries Week 22nd - 29th October
Twice a year, many local art galleries empty or reorganise their gallery space and devote it to a completely new show for the Galleries Week in May and October or often for longer. Most of the galleries in Dartmouth have a private view on the same night - Friday October 22nd. The following is just a taster of what’s on offer. It’s a great time to visit and both the selection of art available and the atmosphere are fantastic.
COOMBE GALLERY
Rising Stars 2010. On October 23rd Coombe Gallery will be opening its doors once more for it’s 4th annual ‘Rising Stars’ exhibition highlighting the finest of this year’s arts graduates. In June and July, gallery curator Mark Riley toured the art colleges looking for new talent and this year 15 artists and makers will be exhibiting from a variety of art colleges and universities. These include: Batley School of Art and Design, Central St Martins, Hereford College of Art and Design, University College Falmouth, Bath Spa University, Colchester Institute, Slade School of Fine Art, Newport University and Northumbria University.
