1997 SMEI Establishes DRM


SMEI established an on-line information resource center which members access for sales and marketing information. The SMEI Digital Resource Mall (DRM) provides members with worldwide access to the most comprehensive source of sales and marketing information available. To help support marketing educations SMEI provides free worldwide access to the DRM for educators and students through our affiliation with the Pi Sigma Epsilon fraternity, Junior Achievement and DECCA, the Distributive Education Clubs of America.


2000 Launches a New Decade for SMEI and International Expansion


While SMEI had developed and sustained affiliates in Hong Kong, Puerto Rico and Canada, the new milleneum issued in a renewed pursuit of international expansion. SMEI’s President, Willis Turner and the board of directors renewed the affiliation in Mexico with COMEV and strenghtened ties with SME Puerto Rico through the certification programs.


In 2002, Willis Turner made the first of many trips to China, and in 2007 Chair Nathalie Roemer, CME, Certification Chair Melissa Medley, CME, Susan Warren, CSE and Gerard Edwards CME, CSE travelled to Beijing to sign an official agreement of cooperation with P.R. China and the launch of professional sales & marketing certification. In 2006, SMEI affiliated the Sales & Marketing Association in the Netherlands. In 2008, SMEI developed an affiliation in Japan with Global Management Academy and held the first certification train the trainer program.
