Non-Profit Professional Association Sales and Marketing International founded October 17, 1935
First annual SMEI International Marketing Convention was held in New York. This international sales and marketing forum has been conducted without interruption since 1935.
1942-46 SMEI affiliates sold war bonds to support World War II 1950’s
Operation Enterprise – Teams of SMEI volunteers shared their sales and marketing know how with recovering nations in the post World War II era: France, England, West Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, Hong Kong and other parts of the world.
SMEI sponsored International Marketing Seminars 1950 1953 1960
SMEI Launched the Distinguished Sales and Marketing Awards® to recognize outstanding professional salespersons. SMEI affiliate chapters present the awards annually.
SMEI established the Graduate School of Sales Management and Marketing at Syracuse University. Over 7000 sales and marketing executives have graduated from this program.
SMEI established February as National Sales & Marketing Month. Every President of the United States since 1960 has issued a statement supporting this annual event. Since 1984 every Prime Minister of Canada has issued a similar statement.
1966-75 SMEI conducted worldwide Tops in Marketing Awards to recognize outstanding corporate marketing achievements.
1965 SMEI Affiliate Launched in Hong Kong
