Steiner’s inaugural Mandara Spa in Russia
Steiner Leisure’s fi rst Mandara Spa in Russia is to open in late 2010 as part of the Lotte Hotel in Moscow. The 18,300q ft (1,700sq m) spa will
include a total of seven treatment rooms and will also off er a wide range thera- pies from Elemis alongside traditional Asian treatments. In February 2009, Steiner Leisure
announced that it had entered into a 10-year agreement to operate a Mandara Spa at the hotel. Boasting 304 bedrooms, the hotel is
operated by the South Korean chain Lotte Hotels & Resorts, an affi liate of the Lotte Group, which is based in Seoul.
Restored historical bath for Budapest T e T ermal Spa complex will boast a shower corridor that retains 19th century elements
T e €35.5m (us$44.7m, £29.4m) Rácz Hotel & T ermal Spa is to open in Budapest, Hun- gary, in the third quarter of 2010. While the 67-bedroom hotel and restau-
rant are newly-built, the 8,000sq m (86,111 sq ſt ) T ermal Spa is a mix of new and old and includes refurbished parts of the Rácz T er- mal Bath – a UNESCO World Heritage edifi ce
– that was once used by sultans and royalty. T e oldest part of the spa is a Turkish
thermal bath (heated to 36˚C) that was orig- inally constructed in the 16th century and has been refurbished and updated with a Turkish hammam and café.
Elsewhere, a 19th century thermal (38˚C)
pool under a vast, 9m (30ſt ) high dome and an adjoining shower fl oor – an arched cor- ridor with diff erent types of showers and water features – have been rebuilt accord- ing to the original designs by the famous Hungarian architect Miklós Ybl. Newer spa facilities include 13 dipping
pools, a rooſt op swimming pool, 21 treat- ment rooms and a Sauna World with Finnish, bio and aroma saunas, as well as two steamrooms and a salt and snow cave. Spa consultant Alistair Graham and Hor- wath Consulting worked on the project.
Woodstock Inn to reveal US$10m spa
Consultancy WTS International has released details of a us$10m (€7.8m, £6.6m) spa which will open this September at the Woodstock Inn & Resort in Vermont, US. Designed by New York’s Asfour
Guzy Architects, the 10,000sq ſt (929sq m) facility will have 10 treat- ment rooms and indoor and outdoor relaxation spaces. T e spa will use organic products
from Èminence, Naturopathica and Spa Ritual, while every three months a signature treatment using seasonal indig- enous ingredients will be introduced. T e 100-minute treatment comprises a body scrub and masques as well as a foot, scalp and body massage. T e main ingredient in autumn is pumpkin; the Deep Forest winter therapy will incorporate spruce and cedar oils; in spring maple and vanilla will be on the menu; and seasonal berries will be used in summer.

T e pods are crucial to Elemis’ retail areas
Elemis unveils double SpaPod in London
British skincare brand Elemis has unveiled its fi rst double SpaPod within its retail spa concept in the Debenhams department store on Oxford Street – a popular shop- ping destination – in London, UK. T e SpaPod was fi rst launched in 2006
and enables Elemis therapists to perform treatments on retail consumers. T e launch of a second pod at Deben-
hams will enable the Elemis team to have more fl exibility for bookings and walk-in clients. Each pod features Smart Glass Technology, which goes from transpar- ent to frosted at the fl ick of a button.

Eléa Spa nears completion on luxury Cypriot estate
Eléa Golf & Spa Resort near Paphos, Cyprus, will launch later this year. T e luxury resort – part of the Eléa Estate development – will boast a boutique hotel and wellness retreat, 200 villas and 100 apartments and a 2,260sq m (24,326sq ſt ) clubhouse. A par-71 golf course designed by the UK’s six-time major winner, Sir Nick Faldo, will be the centrepiece of the estate and is intended to put Cyprus on the map as a major European golf destination.
