You CANNOT be serious! The not so serious side of the industry

Macca’s PR man joins the turfcare industry!

YOU might get to see this chap out and about on the golfing circuit this summer. Who is he? Geoff Baker, the new editor of Golf Course News International, or GCNI as it is better known. What are his credentials? Well, for the past 15 years he has been Sir Paul McCartney’s Public Relations manager but the two fell out resulting in an acrimonious parting. So, on the face of it, this seems an interesting career move if nothing else. Of his departure Geoff said

“Paul firing me kept me alive. It was not just dope and booze - every rock ‘n’ roll narcotic was being embraced by myself. I was doing cocaine, everything, except smack. I was leading more of a rock ‘n’ roll life than Paul. I was leading more of a rock ‘n’ roll life than Keith Richards, never mind Paul! Since I left Paul I have not touched anything. My weight ballooned but I have lost two stones now and I have not

Keep your eye on the ball!

IT’S probably every golf coach’s dream. A pretty blonde to teach the rudiments of the game. “Tee the ball high, slightly forward in your stance, shoulders square with your feet, full but gentle back swing, watch the club head on to the ball, good follow through, sunglasses on and nipples out!”

drunk alcohol since April. I still smoke dope but that’s good for my health.” Can we expect to read about Macca’s exploits in GCNI? “There is as much chance of me writing a book about Paul as there is of me taking life seriously”. Good luck in your new position Geoff - you seem to have the perfect credentials!

Famous fan ...

MOST of you will have heard of Jasper Carrott, Brummie comedian and TV celebrity, but did you know that he is also a keen gardener and Pitchcare enthusiast. One of his classic comedy

routines was on the problems he had with moles in his garden. Like all of us he tried all the traditional methods but the eventual outcome was Jasper blasting his lawn in the dead of night with a 12 bore shotgun in an attempt to get rid of the blighters. The only question

from Jasper when we met up with him was “Now where is that section on moles???”

Birthday blues

We found a great little website the other day - http://mothership.somethin- else.com/hit40uk1000 - which will tell you what the number one single was when you were born.

I don’t know what use it is really but I suppose it’s a bit of fun. So here are the number one’s from when the Pitchcare team entered this world. Grab a Guinness Book of Hit Singles and you’ll find out just how old we all are!
