Sustainable growth

Diehl Aerosystems is one of four Corporate Divisions of the Diehl Group, a family- owned German company with business activities in various industries, employing around 12,000 people all over the world

Within the Group, Diehl Aerosystems is the umbrella for all aerospace activities operated by Diehl Aerospace and Diehl Aircabin with more than 3,000 employees and an annual turnover of more than 510 Mio. € (2009). Diehl Aerosystems is a First Tier Supplier for avionic solutions as well as a preferred partner for cabin integration in the aerospace industry worldwide, with customers including most major airframers, for example Airbus, Boeing, Eurocopter and Embraer, as well as manufacturers of military programmes such as Tornado, Eurofighter and the A400M. The integrated product portfolio of Diehl

Aerosystems consist of various avionics systems and cabin interiors elements. As part of avionics solutions for aircraft, Diehl Aerospace offers display systems graphics generation elements, flight and high lift control units, integrated modular avionics, doors and slides management systems and cabin lighting systems. The company is also a world leader in the field of aircraft cabin lighting systems. Diehl Aircabin designs, develops and assembles cabin interiors, for example entire floor-to-floor lining including luggage bins, crew compartments, monuments and air ducting groupings as well as special VIP cabin interiors and mock-ups. Beyond this, Diehl Aerosystems offers a wide range of customer support and services, which include assistance for maintenance and repair of Diehl Aerospace and Diehl Aircabin products. In addition, retrofit solutions for the upgrade of commercial aircraft are on offer. This includes refurbishment kits for cabins as well as enhancement of avionics equipment on board the aircraft.

For the Crystal Cabin Award 2010 during this year's Aircraft Interiors Expo, Diehl Aircabin's entry "powder coating of cabin interior parts" has reached the final round of selection in the category "Material and Components". The entry is a state-of-the-art refinement of existing powder coating applications, which previously could not be used for parts made of carbon or fibre glass sandwich panels. Diehl Aircabin found a solution to the problem by developing the technology to modify thermoset cabin interior parts for the application of electrostatic coating. Furthermore, scratch resistance, abrasion and cleaning properties of the powder coating have been optimised, so that all properties exceed the normal standard of the liquid coating or decorative foil.

The Corporate Division Diehl Aerosystems has various engineering and manufacturing sites in Frankfurt, Laupheim, Nürnberg and Überlingen. Another engineering centre exists in Rostock, while customer support facilities are in place in Toulouse (France) for Europa and Asia, Sterrett (Alabama, USA) for the Americas and Singapore (managed by partner Satair) for Asia-Pacific. With its current portfolio and activities, Diehl

Aerosystems is firmly positioned on the market. With a further consolidation of its position as First Tier Supplier in mind, the Corporate Division is pursuing a strategy of sustainable growth in the field of cabin interiors, both organically and by acquisitions, if and when appropriate opportunities arise to do so. On the existing foundations and with promising perspectives in view, Diehl Aerosystems is perfectly placed to remain one of the most successful businesses in the industry.
