Innovative new galley on the menu

Bucher is presenting an innovative re-interpretation of its galley at Aircraft Interiors Expo 2010. The new development meets future market requirements with further optimisation of weight and ergonomic features. In practical terms, the extending table and LED lighting integration are particularly impressive. With its reputation as an established supplier of galley

systems, Bucher was actively involved in a European research project into the provision of catering services. The objective of this project was to integrate aspects and themes such as RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and ergonomic handling into a targeted total concept. Ultimately this project aimed not only to increase the overall options available to the passenger, but also to reduce operating costs in the aviation industry. Unsurprisingly, one of the main goals is the creation of a catering concept that has the potential to raise the efficiency and therefore the productivity of the crew. Plus the design of the structural elements, i.e. the galleys, is based on structural and material solutions that further reduce the weight burden.

Bucher has solved the task it was set in an innovative manner that is typical of the company. As well as proving ideal for RFID shielding, the Bucher galley design concept also enables specific solutions for significantly improved ergonomic features.
