At Fraunhofer PYCO a team of scientists develops highly crosslinked polymers (thermosets) for all applications with particular reference to aviation, information and communication technology and microelectronics. In the range of aerospace, the development work focuses on interior applications and lightweight structures. Fraunhofer PYCO develops polymer systems along the whole supply chain, beginning with monomers up to the finished part. Research topics: prepreg resins, prepregs, laminates, sandwiches, e.g. for sidewall-panels and air ducts; adhesives (repairable, flame-redardant, debondable); new core materials, e.g. nap core; foams (noise damping, flame-retardant, hard and soft, lightweight); bistable displays for galleys and logistics.
