Non Profit Organizational Status For Nsna
We are also in the process of registering NSNA as a non profit organization. Mr. L. Selvanathan, NY has
volunteered to help us in this task.
Regional Picnics
The regional picnics during the past two years were a tremendous success. We request the Regional
Secretaries to arrange for Regional/Summer picnics and send us your plans and news about upcoming
events in your area for publication in NANAL and web-site.
With all your help and support, we are confident that we can accomplish the above goals and challenges.
Cheers.
NSNA EC 1998-99
A Note From the Former President of NSNA (1996-1997)
I want to thank each one of the North American Nagarathars for giving me the opportunity to serve as the
President of NSNA for the years 1996 & 97. It was an enlightening and enriching experience. Though a bit
reluctant initially, your overwhelming show of support and enthusiasm gave me the encouragement I
needed. I am happy I was able to successfully fulfill my duties, during the past two years. NANAL, our
now popular newsletter proves to be the vehicle of our deliverance.
I take pride in stating that in the last twenty four months we have seen a substantial increase in the number
of Nagarathar members and a new founded interest in NSNA that led to the many, many generous
donations. A certain percentage of them went towards the marriage fund and the rest to the very popular
education fund. Monies from these funds was used to help our less fortunate brethren in India. At this
juncture, I have to express my sincere gratitude to each one of my fellow office bearers ; Secretary Mr.
Narayanan, Treasurer Mrs. Vaduganathan, Editors Mr. Aruna & Mr. Thiagarajan, whose combined efforts
made it all possible.
The first National Retreat held in Galveston, Texas turned out to be another highlight of our term. Dr.
David Rudner gracing the event with his presence, while bolstering the meet also generated considerable
enthusiasm among our youth. Not only was it a pleasant and enjoyable experience for all those who were
present, but it also served as a platform for the coming together of Nagarathars as one cohesive force.
Preserving our unique cultural values in the great melting pot, that is the American society, is of great
importance to all of us. I sincerely believe that here is the way to leave behind a legacy for our children. We
can hold on to this vision, not compromise on our principles and make this dream a reality, for the sake of
our youth and generations to come. I wish the best of luck t o the current office bearers, I am sure they will
be atleast twice as successful as we were.
Thank you, one and all, for the two memorable years.
Ramaswamy Lakshmanan
President, NSNA, 1996 & 97 .
