Address Directory
We are planning to publish the NSNA Address Directory during 1998-99. Please provide us with the
information for the directory by filling the membership application. You can mail it to NSNA’s Snail mail
address or email directly to nsna@achi.org.
Marriage/Education Fund
It has been decided to donate a sum of Rs. 3000 for marriages and the number will depend on the
sponsorship we receive. We had requested Nagarathar Malar and Nagarathar Kural to carry a news item
about our funding for Marriage and Education and we are flooded with many applications and
recommendations by our members. The assistance to marriages will be very much limited as we receive
more applications than the available funds. We have sent a sum of Rs. 30000 for ten marriages and Rs.
8000 for ten Nagarathar students. We would like to thank Dr. V. Venkatachalam, NY who arranged
through his sister in Madras to send the payment in rupees. We have more funding for Education and all
the applications received for educational assistance were approved . We would also like to thank all
those who contributed towards this noble cause and request others to send their sponsorship donations (the
form is enclosed in this issue of NANAL). Our special thanks go to the following for their generous
contribution/pledge towards the educational fund.

They have pledged to donate $5000, which will be used towards a permanent fund.
Establishment Of A Permanent Fund For Special Educational
Scholarship - ANSWERS (American Nagarathar Sangam - Win
Educational Reward Scholarship)
Our Executive Committee has decided to focus on educational assistance during the next two years and
came up with a proposal of depositing about $10,000 (Rs. 400,000) under the name of NSNA in a fixed
deposit with a bank in India. The interest earned will be credited to the NSNA savings account and used for
special Educational Scholarships. The scholarships program ANSWERS (American Nagarathar
Sangam - Win Educational Reward Scholarship) is aimed in helping well deserving Nagarathar
students pursue Professional degree courses such as Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, Pharmacy,
Dentistry, Computer Science, Polytechnic etc. Five students will be selected based on certain criteria (merit
and financial need) each year and their entire tuition (subject to a maximum of Rs. 10,000/yr) will be
awarded until they complete their degree. We also request the recipients of this award to donate voluntarily,
to NSNA, helping other deserving students. We plan on collecting additional donations for this fund, which
will be added to the initial deposit of $10,000. We request you to send your generous donations to NSNA.
We are providing a copy of the application for ANSWERS with this NANAL and request you to send it to
any deserving students.
We will continue our regular educational assistance (Rs. 1100) that is given to almost all the applications
we receive. Despite recent requests posted in Nagarathar Malar and Nagarathar Kural we do not receive
enough applications under this category.
