Kalyani NatarajanTofu curry
1 pack of tofu, 2 tomatoes, 1 small onion, 2 pieces of garlic and Curry powderIngredients:
Cut tofu into small pieces, fry it in oil and keep aside. Heat oil and add mustard seeds, urad dal and cumin
seeds (optional - cinnamon sticks). Sauté garlic, onions, and tomatoes very well (until it turns into paste).
Add fried tofu, curry powder and salt.

1 pack of tofu, 2 potatoes, 1 onion, 1 tomato, 2 pieces of garlic, 3 green peppers and 2Ingredients:
pieces of coconut, cinnamon, cumin and urad dal.
Cut tofu into small pieces, fry it in oil and keep aside. Blend two pieces of coconut and three green peppers
into a fine paste. Chop potatoes, tomatoes, and onions and keep it aside. Heat oil and add cinnamon sticks,
cumin and urad dal. Add garlic, onions, tomatoes and potatoes. Pour two cups of water and add the blended
paste . Cover and cook until the potatoes are done. Add the fried tofu and salt.

2 egg whites, 1/2 cups of sugar and 1/2 cups of cashew nuts [chopped]Ingredients:
1. Heat oven to 325º F.
2. Lightly grease cookie sheet and put wax paper on it.
3. Beat egg whites in a bowl on high speed until foamy.
4. Gradually add sugar and beat. Continue beating until stiff. When you turn the bowl upside down, it
shouldn’t fall.
5. Fold the nuts into it.
6. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto cookie sheet.
7. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until set.
Art of South Indian Cooking
Alamelu Vairavan and her co-author Dr. Patricia Marquardt have participated in several well attended book
signing events at Barnes and Noble book stores in Wisconsin for their newly published book "Art of South
Indian cooking". The book was introduced on "HomeMatters" (Discovery channel) show in Nov 1997 in
which Mrs. Alamelu Vairavan gave cooking demonstrations. The highlight of the book includes many
classic Chettinad dishes. The book is the culmination of a long-term project that evolved from the
friendship between Alamelu and her neighbor Pat. The book can be ordered through Barnes and Noble
