Public Enemies
Based on Brian Burrough’s nonfiction book, Public Enemies is the new crime
thriller from director Michael Mann. It’s set during the great crime wave of
1933 and 1934, when the government’s attempts to stop Depression-era
criminal legends such as John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy
Floyd transformed J. edgar Hoover’s FBI into the country’s first federal police
force. Johnny Depp portrays John Dillinger, the charismatic bank robber
whose lightning raids made him the most wanted man in the country. Public
Enemies’ star-studded cast also includes Channing Tatum, Stephen Dorff,
Giovanni ribisi and Christian Bale as Melvin Purvis, the FBI agent chosen by J.
edgar Hoover to lead a manhunt to catch Dillinger.
Public Enemies is rated R and arrives in theatres on July 1.
The Big Bruno Brouhaha
Sasha Baron Cohen is accustomed to pushing boundaries. In his last hit film,
Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan,
the writer and actor orchestrated outrageous real-life situations that challenged
anti-Semitic and other stereotypes.
In his new movie, Bruno, Baron Cohen goes even further as he travels across the
country posing as a flamboyantly gay Austrian model on a quest to find himself.
Along the way he attempts to expose and sicken homophobes, embarrasses
celebrities, oh and names his new adopted black baby O.J.

However, questions and controversy have been raised about the film. Many are
