BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS’ OPERATION BIGS
Always doing what they can to make a positive difference in children’s lives, the
management at Phil’s BBQ is partnering with the San Diego Padres for the 2009
season to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters’ “Operation Bigs”—a program
that offers support to children of military families through “1:1 mentoring.”
On Monday, June 1st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. one of the area’s favorite barbecue
shacks will be hosting “Phil’s Big BBQ at the Ballpark”—a tailgate party that takes
place prior to the Padres vs. Phillies game at 7:05 p.m. Phil’s BBQ will be donat-
ing 1,000 tickets to Big Brothers Big Sisters for kids and their sponsors to attend
the game and tailgate party. The general public can also lend their support by
purchasing tickets for $20 to attend the game and tailgate party.
Phil’s BBQ plans to raise $20,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Operation Bigs
program through ticket sales. Phil’s is donating the food and service for this
tailgate event to help Big Brothers Big Sisters serve San Diego’s children during
tough economic times. Additionally, Phil’s BBQ will be sponsoring the Padres
“Game Ball Delivery” where one child at every home game will have the memo-
rable opportunity to go down on the field to deliver the game ball to the pitcher’s
mound. Phil’s BBQ will be selecting children from the charity partner, customers,
employees and e-mail club to participate in this opportunity.
Tickets to “Phil’s Big BBQ at the Ballpark” are $20 per person and include ad-
mittance to the Phil’s BBQ tailgate party and the Padres game on Monday, June
1st at PETCO Park. Tickets can be purchased on site at Phil’s BBQ located at 3750
Sports Arena Blvd. or by visiting
www.philsbbq.net. The Tailgate Park is located
southeast of PETCO Park at the corner of 14th Street and Imperial Avenue. The lot
entrance is on Imperial Ave.
