When getting in the best shape of your life, the
most important element is a balanced, healthy diet.
Today there is so much information available on
essentials
this subject that can be overwhelming. Nutrition
is highly complex; therefore, the one-size-fits-all

methodology is not a correct approach.
The first essential step to establish a healthy
diet is to get metabolically typed. Metabolic
typing is a process in which you take better, if not
full control of your health by learning how to group
foods together properly to balance out your blood
sugar levels. The importance of this is HUGE. Unbal-
anced blood sugar leads to stress responses in the
body, which can affect weight loss or gain, physical
and mental performance and development of de-
generative diseases. Metabolic typing is not difficult
and can be done by a simple online test or by a quali-
fied individual. Once you gain an understanding of
the way your metabolism operates, great health and
a great physique will follow! When you are eating
right for your metabolic type you are eliminating
large amounts of unnecessary stress to your body.
This will allow you to recover faster from exercise and
illness and will give you greater results that last!
My second essential for a healthy diet is the
type of food you are ingesting. If your body is a
temple, it would make perfect sense to use only
the best building materials available. I strongly
recommend to consume local, certified organic
products whenever possible. The reasoning is that
most commercial foods contain many chemicals
and by-products and are highly-processed making
them less than optimal for consumption. They can
be degenerative to your health as well as hard on
your body to metabolize. Certified organic foods
provide higher amounts of nutrients and are typi-
cally chemical-free which means consuming them
gives your body more nutrients and they are easier
to metabolize. This equals less stress to your body,
faster recovery and better performance! Certified
organic products are well worth the cost, not only
are you enhancing your health, but also the health
of the environment. If you can’t buy organic, the
next best option is buying locally grown foods.
Local meats and produce have less travel time and
are indigenous to the region; therefore, they are
typically much fresher and hold greater available
nutrients than those shipped from other states or
other continents!
My third top essential ingredient of a healthy
