Two Lovers
For some, there’s nothing like a good ol’ romantic movie on Valentine’s Day. This year, the tender and touching drama
Two Lovers hits the big screen just in time for Cupid’s big day. The film is about a young bachelor, portrayed by Joaquin
Phoenix, who’s torn between the family friend who his parents wish he would marry and his beautiful, intriguing but
volatile new neighbor, played by Gwyneth Paltrow. Could this be the final curtain call for Mr. Phoenix? Back in October,
he stated that he was supposedly leaving acting to pursue a career in music. The last film that he had completed at the
time was Two Lovers.
Two Lovers is rated R and arrives in theaters on Feb 13.
Horror
Jason’s return
Terror and suspense abound in Friday the 13th 2009, the anticipated remake about the horror icon Jason Voorhees
- the unstoppable hockey mask-wearing killer. The new film takes us back to Camp Crystal Lake, which has been
shuttered for over 20 years due to several vicious and unsolved murders. The camp’s new owner and seven young
counselors are readying the property for re-opening despite warnings of a “death curse” by local residents. The original
1980 movie, directed by Sean S. Cunningham, is widely acclaimed for its horrifying and creative murder sequences.
However the well-known character of Jason only had a small part in the film. New Line Cinema’s new version is said to
substantially expand on Jason’s character and back-story.
Friday the 13th 2009 is rated R and opens February 13.
CHris evans
The sexy and sizzling 27-year-old stars in the new sci-fi thriller,
Push, that takes us into the secret world of psychic espionage.
Evans plays the role of a young man whose father was geneti-
cally altered to be the perfect government assassin. After the
brutal murder of his beloved dad, he swears revenge on the
agency that created him by teaming up with a 13-year-old girl,
played by Dakota Fanning, who can see the future. Chris Evans,
whose film credits include, Not Another Teen Movie, The Nanny
Diaries and The Fantastic Four series, has described himself to
be a charming, gay-friendly guy. In fact, his younger brother
Scott is gay, and Chris says he loves to spend time hanging out
with him and his brother’s gay buddies. Even more endearing
about Evans is his admitted “man-crash” on Brad Pitt. Recently,
Evans has become a vocal advocate of gay marriage by going on
record and declaring that it was ‘appalling’ that homosexuals in
this country aren’t allowed to get married.
Push is rated PG-13 and starts February 6.
