The Northern Kites Team
Since the inception of the Project, eleven members of staff have been employed
at various intervals. The Project’s manager, Keith Bowey, has been with Northern
Kites since the beginning, as has Jules Burnett, who not only worked as project
administrator, but also wrote and illustrated the children’s book, Let’s Go Flying
Kites. Looking after the young kites after they were transported from the Chilterns,
were kite wardens, Ken Sanderson and Alan Hart. Key to the success of Northern
Kites was its educational and community work and Melanie Hills, Rhianne Dixon,
Julie Chrisp, and Liz Beech, took on the task of implementing this. The Project
collated a massive amount of information, and Mark O’Keefe and Fred Milton, and
latterly Ashton Lamb, managed this. Giedre Tomkeviciute, an economics student
from Vilnuis University in Lithuania, also worked for the Project during the summer
of 2007.
