Huss upgrades flying theatre system Wings Over

Huss Park Attractions has announced the evolution of its media-based ride system for use in flying theatres. The new Movie Base XS is a more compact but higher capacity version with a new seat design, designed to fit in smaller buildings. It also features floor-level loading. The combination of these elements is said to result in significantly reduced overall construction costs for anyone building a flying theatre attraction. The flight experience is created using hydraulic lift and tilt movements, which can

provide considerable G-forces to the riders if so programmed. An improved viewing position utilising an angular arrangement of the two units mean a similar ride experience no matter where audience members are seated. Passengers sit in rows of six with over theshoulder restraints and customers can choose from a range of total capacities – 36, 72 or 108.

The Movie Base

XS is available from Huss as a full turn-key solution, including the AV and show control system, for which the German company has collaborated with an experienced partner. Obviously the customer can source their own media content if they wish.

T

he opening of Wings Over Washington on August 25 marked Dynamic

Attractions' entry into North America's standalone tourist attractions market. The Canadian firm created the flying theatre ride for Great Western Attractions at Seattle's popular tourist site Pier 57, where it appears next to the recently-opened Great Seatle Wheel. “We are now bringing our

flying theatre entertainment product to major tourism destinations,” confirms Guy Nelson, Dynamic Attractions president and CEO of parent company Empire Industries. In addition to Seattle, the

company is building a tourist destination flying theatre for Miami and has already installed one in Macau. where it is a partner on the project. "We expect locations that draw large numbers of tourists, such as Seattle's spectacular waterfront, to be a growing part of our business," adds Nelson. Great Western Attractions VP Kyle Griffith oversaw all stages of the project, working with a team including director and producer Brent Young, president and creative director of Super 78 Studio. The attraction’s main musical theme was composed by Antonio Di lorio and performed by the Northwest Sinfonia. More than 30 members of the Sacred Water Canoe Family, a Native American vocal and percussion group, performed for the musical score.
