Kings Dominion
expanding Planet Snoopy The world’s largest Peanuts-themed children’s area is growing again! Kings Dominion, Doswell, Virginia, will expand the Planet Snoopy area of the park for 2017 with three family rides from Zamperla, a new event space, and upgraded food and beverage facilities. New family- friendly rides include the Kite Eating Tree (Jumping Star tower ride – pictured), Sally's Sea Plane (CrazyBus) and Peanuts 500 (a Speedway car ride/mini whip).
Play Wild! E
arlier this year Timberplay installed this challenging new play area at the north of England's Yorkshire Wildlife Park, and it apparently proved extremely popular over the summer.
Featured as an add-on to the existing Oasis Adventure Play Area, this spacious
new addition contains a wide selection of play equipment. Toddlers and young children are catered for with a large sandpit, building site, see saw, balance blocks, jumping flower, play huts, dwarf hill, swinging horses, jumping discs and a whirligig created to resemble a meerkat. Aimed at older kids, a large climbing structure and a triangular platform
combination, both of which can hold huge numbers of children at any one time, promoting the development of not only motor skills but also key social skills such as negotiation. A triple beam swing adds high energy fun. Always a popular addition
to any playground, a cable way adds an alternative thrill. See saws and nest swings complete Timberplay's contribution. Whilst wood chip is used as the safety surface across the wider site, creating a
space that looks great and in keeping with its surroundings, sand Is used in the immediate vicinity of the new playground, increasing the play value of the space
significantly. Located in Doncaster, Yorkshire Wildlife Park (
yorkshirewildlifepark.com) is one
of the fastest growing visitor attractions in the UK, with visitor numbers growing from 6,000 in its first year to 68,000 seven years later. The park and visitor experience are also very high rated on TripAdvisor. Also new for 2016 is a camel reserve.
Baz Slatter joins Holovis
Formerly with Picsolve, Baz Slatter has joined the British media-based attractions specialist Holovis to help lead the further expansion of its 'Extended Experience' AR/VR app- based game offering. “I have a real passion for combining the innovative
technologies with consumers in the attractions and leisure industries,” says Slatter, who brings with him over 25 years of commercial, product and marketing experience and is also expected to find applications for Extended Experience outside the attractions industry, for example in the automotive, construction and consumer sectors. In the theme park environment, Holovis Extended Experience aims to
engage guests both before and after their visit, so increasing their enjoyment and deepening their memories. One particular application of the product already in use is The Battle for Cedar Point, in which visitors to the famous US park can interact with avatars representing various rollercoasters as they do “battle” with others in the park via their smartphones. “Holovis Extended Experience transforms the engagement model, by
increasing brand connectivity, improving spend per guest and helping to turn passive users into raving fans,” adds Holovis CEO, Stuart Hetherington. “When combined with the latest Holovis Mixed Reality capabilities (where Augmented and Virtual realities are blended together), the Extended Experience really comes to life.”
