Original Universal

CityWalk revitalised When it opened at California's Universal City in 1993, CityWalk was the prototypical one-stop leisure and dining destination. Now it's set for an elaborate revitalisation with the introduction of new restaurants, shopping experiences, design features and a movie theatre renovation. This undertaking coincides with Universal Studios Hollywood’s recent major transformation in which 75% of the famous theme park has been completely re-imagined. New restaurants opening soon at CityWalk include LudoBird, Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza, Meizhou Dongpo, Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and Voodoo Doughnut..

They will join existing eateries including Wolfgang Puck Bistro, Karl Strauss Brewing Company, Hard Rock Café Hollywood, Pink’s Hot Dog, Smashburger, Buca di Beppo, and others.

Siberian splash New waterpark will provide winter refuge

H

ere's a sneak preview of what we are told will be Russia's largest indoor waterpark. Siberian winters mean suffering long months of temperatures that regularly plunge into negative numbers. Even during the summer, the weather

remains cool. Residents of the Zarechny neighbourhood, however, will gain some welcome relief to their frigid climate when the project opens this coming April. The 10,000-square-meter (107,000-square-feet) facility will feature large translucent

domes to let in the sun but also hold back gales. Over 10 slides will be supplied by Polin, which is working on the project out of its Russian office alongside local investment group Sibentel. A separate children's area will be available, along with several large pools including a wave pool. Additional amenities at the facility will be a 170-room hotel and a complex of around 15 baths and saunas taking advantage of local mineral springs. The waterpark will feature capacity for up to one million visitors a year.

Slagharen strikes gold!

This coming spring, Slagharen will unveil the Netherlands' first triple launch coaster, and here's a sneak preview. The new ride, named Gold Rush, is being supplied by Gerstlauer and will feature a custom layout featuring two forward launches, pro- pelling riders from 0-90km/h, and one backwards launch. Lasting almost one minute, it will be faster, higher and quieter than the ride it will replace, a Schwarzkopf Thunder Loop coaster which is set to close next month. The 400m- long ride layout will feature two inversions, and riders will travel a total of 620m thanks to the backwwards section.
