FROM THE PRESIDENT

December 1, 2015 Dear Friend of Bergen Catholic,

May Jesus live in your heart in a special way during this Jubilee year of our school: 1955 –2015.

The word jubilee comes from the Hebrew word meaning TRUMPET SOUND. The trumpet called the Israelites to stop, to reflect on who they were called to be and who they were; to realign the two where and when needed; and to seek grace to be faithful in the future.

This Jubilee year at Bergen Catholic is being used to reflect anew, to internalize, and to seek the grace to be faithful in the future to the Mission of the school:

We are a Catholic Community which prepares young men to become leaders by deepening religious faith, developing academic excellence, and strengthening social consciousness and responsibility in accordance with the Essential Elements of an Edmund Rice Christian Brother Education.

By doing so we pay tribute to the devotion, hard work, and sacrifices of those who came before us and have made this school the wonderful place it is.

Our Celebration of 60 Bergen Catholic years began on September 10 with a family barbecue and it will conclude on September 10, 2016 with a football contest with a Christian Brothers Tampa school and a dinner at night. During the course of the year we will have a vocal music festival, athletic and art events, academic and business symposiums, and a major educational effort that advocates for global awareness and care for the earth.

Peace,

Br. Brian M. Walsh President
