he Performing Arts Department at Bergen Catholic continues to raise the cultural awareness and esteem of the arts by providing our students with meaningful experiences and numerous opportunities for public performance. The department continues to showcase the
talents of the young men involved in our Vocal Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Orchestra, not only within the school community but throughout the com- munity at large. The Men’s Vocal Ensemble performs at numerous school activities, in-
cluding open houses, Masses and sports events in addition to their two annual concerts. They participate in the acclaimed New York Regional National Catholic High School Choral Festival at Saint Malachy’s, the Actors’ Chapel. For the past two seasons, the Men’s Vocal Ensemble was awarded first-place honors and a superior rating at the Festivals of Music competition in Her- shey, Pa. This year, they will travel to Williamsburg, Va., along with the Jazz Band, to again represent Bergen Catholic in competition. Bergen’s Jazz Band continues to thrill audiences at their annual concerts and their appearances at Trumpets Jazz Club in Montclair. This year, they will also appear in con- cert with the Bergen County Community College Jazz Ensemble. In March, the Jazz Band will perform at the Josie Robertson Plaza at Lincoln Center in New York City. The TRI M National Music Honor Society was established at Bergen
Catholic during the 2013-2014 academic year. The Chapter now boasts 25 members and offers our musicians opportunities for service and leadership.
