The Vintage Food & Wine Festival “Farewell to the Swallows”

San Juan turns it on for the San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce’s most anticipated event of the year—The Vintage Food & Wine Festival. Held in the Mission San Juan Capistrano’s central courtyard each October, the Chamber of Commerce’s signature festival brings together nearly 1,000 guests for an evening of dining, drinking, dancing and fun under cool skies. The event acts as the city’s official “farewell to the swallows,” the famed, faithful birds that find their way back to the Mission each spring—a return celebrated in March with the nation’s largest non-motorized parade, the Swallows Day Parade. The Vintage Food & Wine Festival is held on the first Saturday of October amid the Mission’s historic 200-year-old adobe buildings and pristine gardens, which see a new life when viewed at night. The magnificent setting is simply the night’s foundation. More than 35 local restaurants, bakeries, breweries and wineries showcase the varied and vibrant flavors of San Juan Capistrano and surrounding areas. Live music and a silent auc- tion round out San Juan’s favorite foodie festival. The Vintage Food & Wine Festival is an annual sellout that supports the nonprofit Chamber of Commerce’s dedicated work to improve the community through economic development.
