FIRST PART OF TEWKESBURY PARK £2.5 MILLION REFURBISHMENT COMPLETED The Tewkesbury Park hotel, golf and country club in Gloucestershire has completed the first part of an interior refurbishment costing £2.5m. All 85 bedrooms have been


redesigned by local interior design company ADS Design – 30 of which are now executive rooms featuring smart TVs and Nespresso coffee machines, while the pool and leisure complex has been upgraded. The work has been carried out by


new owners the McIntosh family, who took over the hotel in April 2014 from Washington Hotels. Focus Hotels Management has been appointed to operate the hotel.


ALL-PARTY PARLIAMENTARY GROUP ON VISITOR ECONOMY ESTABLISHED A group of cross-party members of parliament has been set up to boost tourism and hospitality across the UK. The All-Party Parliamentary


Group (APPG) on the Visitor Economy aims to enhance local economies through promoting measures and incentives, including a reduction of VAT on tourism, which would increase visitor numbers and investment in the regions.


DETAILS OF RESTAURANTS AT NEW HILTON LONDON BANKSIDE REVEALED The food and beverage concept at the 292-bedroom Hilton London Bankside (pictured) – set to open in Southwark, south London, in September – is to reflect the history and vibe of the local area. Overseen by executive chef Paul Bates, who until March was the opening executive chef at Chris Corbin and Jeremy King’s Beaumont hotel, the two food and beverage outlets will be OXBO Bankside restaurant and the Distillery bar. Hilton Bankside has been

Serial entrepreneur Luke Johnson has been confirmed as the headline speaker at next year’s Master Innholders’ 23rd General Managers Conference. Johnson has succeeded in the


restaurant world, building up and then selling PizzaExpress, Signature Restaurants and Strada; as well as spending six years as chairman of Channel 4 television. Today he is chairman of private equity house Risk Capital Partners, which has stakes in Patisserie Holdings, Gail’s Artisan Bakery and Red Hot World Buffet. The theme of the 2016


conference, which will run from 11 to 12 January 2016 at Grosvenor House, London, a JW Marriott hotel, is Excellence is No Coincidence.


Co-chaired by Margaret Ritchie MP (SDLP) and Nigel Huddleston MP (Conservative), the body will work closely with the British Hospitality Association. Together they will host a Hospitality and Tourism Lobby Day on 16 September 2015.
