The week in hospitality
TOTALLY BOWLED OVER Five-star, 299-bedroom hotel the Waldorf Hilton in London’s Aldwych has honoured its impeccably-dressed doormen by enlisting landscape specialists Leaflike to trim its entrance trees into the shape of bowler hats. The sculptures were created using a mixture of real tree stems and life-like false foliage, designed so that customers can’t tell the difference. The company has also created arrangements in giant cocktail glasses in the hotel’s Grand Salon and added pops of colour throughout the site’s public spaces. Originally built in 1908, the hotel now has an indoor swimming pool, health club and steam room, along with 400-capacity business meeting spaces.
