Tom Aikens chooses Todenham Farm as meat supplier for Soho Farmhouse


Chef Tom Aikens has cho- sen Todenham Manor Farm in Gloucestershire as his supplier for his new kitchen at the Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire. The 800-acre Todenham Manor


Farm is owned by Irayne Paikin, who rears rare-breed Saddleback, Gloucester Old Spot and Middle White pigs and pedigree South Devon and Aberdeen Angus cat- tle. It has an on-site butchery and a local abattoir three miles away. Private members’ club Soho


Farmhouse is the latest addition to the Soho House portfolio, open- ing this year. It will have 40 private cabins and an infinity pool.

Buzz along to the London Honey Show for Beekeeper of the Year


The London Honey Show at the Lancaster London is to be held on a weekend for the first time in five years, due to growing demand. The show is a celebration of bees and beekeeping and is suit- able for producers and buyers as well as members of the public. Set to take place on 11 October in the hotel’s 1,500-capacity West- bourne Suite from 11am to 4pm, it will include stalls, exhibits, talks from bee experts and a chance to sample honey products.

Beacon appoints Paul Connelly as its new MD


Purchasing company Beacon has appointed Paul Connelly as its new managing director. Connelly was director of oper- ations for Beacon and has been with the company for 12 years, looking after the financial side. He was also responsible for pur- chasing and operational functions. His work will now focus on the commercial, purchasing and operations side of the firm.

Tackling obesity, malnutrition, sustainable food business, pack- aging and personalised nutri- tion will be among the hot topics discussed by more than 400 experts in this year’s education programme at Food Matters Live. Eden Project founder Sir Tim Smit, Iceland’s Nick Canning, the Food and Drink Federation’s Ian Wright, Leon Restaurants’ Henry Dimbleby and broadcaster Professor Claudia Hammond will lead a stellar line-up of speakers taking part in the three-day free conference at London’s ExCeL on 17-19 November. The seminar programme will also offer visitors an opportu- nity to gain practical advice from more than 300 expert speak- ers, covering issues such as the nutritional needs of an ageing population and the growth in free- from foods.


Gleneagles to host Showcasing Scotland producer event


The Gleneagles hotel in Scotland is to host the second Showcasing Scotland event in October this year. The show exists as a plat- form for Scottish food and drink producers and buyers.
