offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to impress and potentially catch the eye of the new TOYOTA WRC team.
“This is a significant milestone in the GT86 CS-R3 story,” says Nico Ehlert, TMG Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport, “which brings us one step closer to the car’s competitive debut. We have put a huge amount of effort into our testing and development programme in order to deliver a fast, reliable and spectacular car for drivers and fans alike.”
Work began on the GT86 CS-R3 back in October 2013 but the car didn’t make its public debut until ADAC Rallye Deutschland last August, where, at the hands of former female world champion Isolde Holderied, the prototype car was evaluated as a zero car. As a result of that, a period of refinement was undertaken on the design to implement the key improvements uncovered during testing.
“It is extremely important to TMG that our cars live up to our customers’ high expectations, so we took a little more time than originally predicted to complete the homologation process” continues Nico Ehlert. “This means we now have a car which, I believe, will exceed the expectations of our customers and keep the fans entertained.”
The debut of the GT86 CS-R3 continues TMG’s successful customer motorsport programme, which has contributed significantly to the company in recent years, and reinforces TMG’s rally credentials.
