EVOLVING A CHAMPIONSHIP WINNER


TOYOTA Racing is not taking anything for granted as the team defends its world titles.


LMP1 class regulations have remained largely unchanged, but the TS040 HYBRID has undergone detailed improvements in all areas in pursuit of improved performance for 2015.


The team has introduced improved aerodynamics, a revised front end including crash structure and new suspension kinematics to optimise tyre usage, plus additional weight saving.


Work began directly after last year’s Le Mans 24 Hours and the updated car was tested for the first time on


13 January at Paul Ricard. Further three-day tests at Motorland Aragon (twice) and Portimao meant that the car had completed over 25,000km prior to the official pre- season launch at the Prologue in March.


“The regulations have been essentially stable so there was no reason to review completely our concept, considering our performance throughout 2014,” reveals Technical Director Pascal Vasselon. “The updated car is no revolution, but it’s an evolution
