MOULDS AND HOT RUNNERS HRSflow

Italian hot runner manufacturer HRSflow will be showing its FlexFlow electrically powered valve gate actuation system, which is designed to provide fully independent control of each gate in sequential moulding applications. Intended for applications such as automotive bumpers and door panels, the FlexFlow system provides control of the position, acceleration, speed and stroke of each valve pin to allow full optimisation of the fill and packing profiles. The company says its trials have shown using the technology can result in a 5% part weight saving and 20% reduction in mould closing force requirements. HRSflow now has three automotive spoiler moulds
available to potential customers to evaluate the technology. These will be located at its operations in Italy, China and US. It has also developed a simulation model in collaboration with Autodesk Moldflow that allows FlexFlow setting data to be determined in a virtual environment and then transmitted direct to the controller as a process start-up point. ❙

Husky Injection Molding Systems will display its latest hot runner, including its Unify pre-assembled manifold systems and Altanium Matrix 2 hot runner and mould controllers. The Unify manifold system provides one-step
installation of the hot runner manifold into the mould without needing to pre-heat the system, providing an up to 70% installation time saving. Manifolds are supplied pre-wired and pre-assembled with hydraulic valve gate actuators for simple installation. The Altanium Matrix 2 freestanding hot runner
controller is designed to provide accurate temperature control in a flexible, scalable modular design. It is said to be a good choice for medical and other applica- tions where part quality is critical. Features include Active Reasoning Technology, which optimises thermal performance for each heater, and sophisticated mould diagnositcs and leak detection. ❙

Linde Plastics Technology Booth S33188
The main features on the Linde Plastic Technology booth will be its eGAIM enhanced gas assisted mould- ing and CO2 Spot Cooling technologies, both of which offer improved part quality and shorter cycle times. Using CO2 in a gas assist moulding process can
reduce cooling times by more than 30% compared to nitrogen gas, according to the company. It claims its high pressure injection system can also improve surface finish and reduce part quality variation. As a spot cooling medium, CO2 can help promote more uniform heating across the component and has resulted in cycle time reductions of up to 50%, the company says. Linde will also show its Cryoclean system, which uses dry ice particles to rapidly remove contaminants from the surfaces of moulds. ❙
