The materials can be formulated to provide a range of surface properties - extending from smooth and plastic-like to “grippy” and rubbery - and can be supplied as natural pellets or custom-coloured. German machinery maker Arburg will show its Freeformer additive manufacturing system for the first time in North America at NPE 2015. The machine - which differentiates itself from current additive building systems by accepting standard granular polymer feedstock - is able to handle two materials at one time, making it easy to incorporate support structures into parts. Two examples will be running in Orlando.


The company will also be demonstrating a range of


high performance injection moulding production techniques. An Allrounder 820S, for example, will be producing a composite part using a combination of continuous fibre reinforced thermoplastic sheet overmoulded with a long fibre reinforced plastic (LFT) compounded directly on the moulding machine. The company will also show an example of Industry


4.0 networked manufacturing on an Allrounder 370E machine, which will be producing an individualised toy car with all production and subsequent measurement and test data being delivered back to a central data management system. Other show exhibits include an Allrounder 520A
