Athena will also demonstrate a


300-tonne machine producing flip-top closures on a 16-cavity stack mould by F&S Tool and a 150 tonne machine, also producing flip-top closures, running a 4-cavity mould from Cap-Thin Molds with servo-motor powered in-mould unscrewing and closing. BMB Booth W7562


Italian manufacturer BMB will be running a 1,000 tonne hybrid moulding machine on its stand producing thin wall packaging tubs on a 5.8s cycle running a 2+2 cavity stack mould. The machine, which uses an accumulator- supported injection system, provides a mould fill time in this application of just 0.3s yet offers a 40% energy saving over a conventional hydraulic alternative. The production system includes a high speed part removal and stacking system. BMB will also run a 200 tonne all-electric model on


the stand of Ilsemann Automation (W991), where it will be moulding a 4-cavity IML container mould on a cycle time of 3.7s. ❙ www.bmb-spa.com


Billion Booth W983


French injection machinery builder Billion will be running an all-electric 200 tonne multi-component moulding machine from its Select range producing a Multitube automotive duct component on tooling developed by Georges Pernoud. This fully automated process uses an overmoulding step to permanently assemble injection moulded shells to create an airtight assembly. The production cell in Orlando will include a Select


200T machine fitted with three all-electric injection units. The three-material part is comprised of two polyamide shell mouldings fitted with an additional TPE seal and four metal inserts. The three injection phases take place simultane- ously during the moulding cycle while a Sepro robot positions the metal inserts, as well as handling component transfer within the mould and removing the finished parts. The Multitube technique is already being used in commercial production by a number of automotive

production technology can improve part quality and reduce cost – it claims ROIs of less than one year.

company will be running nine machines from its range, extending from a 10 tonne Boy XS up to its


largest 100E model. The exhibits include a fully automated production cell built around a Boy 60E producing beer glasses in PC. The cell includes a cartesian robot that will handle part removal and deliver the glasses to a laser marking station before placing them onto a conveyor. ❙ www.dr-boy.de


Engel Booth W1303


Aside from the lightweight thermoplastic composite production system and e-Pic entry level robot men- tioned in the previous edition of Injection World, Engel will be showing fully automated production of a medical blood transfusion drip chamber with integrated filter. Produced on a three-component e-Victory machine


in clean room specification equipped with an energy- saving ecodrive system and Engel Easix robot, the drip chamber comprises one ABS and two PP components that are assembled around the filter then permanently joined by overmoulding with PP. Mould partner for the project is Germany’s Hack Formenbau. In a second medical exhibit, the company will be pro- ducing insulin pen needle holders on an e-Motion all electric machine as part of a production cell built around a Braunform 96-cavity mould and Hekuma high speed
