NATIONAL DEALER SKILLS’ BIGGEST COMPETITION


Grosvenor Casinos held its Annual Dealer Skills Competition at the end of November at the Grosvenor Coventry


All 55 casinos in the Grovenor group participat- ed in the 2014 event with 1,037 dealers entering their club heats between July and September with each year’s participation showing growth since the 407 entries in 2009. Each club ran and under and over 2yrs experience competition with the winners each receiving £200. The clubs were split into groups and the under and over two years club champions took part in regional finals throughout October.


The finalists were invited to the grand final at Grosvenor Casino Coventry on November 27, each receiving £300 and a Gold Dolly Trophy, which saw the dealers completing a series of table gaming related challenges with penalties for mistakes and slow times.


The gauntlet Challenge was opened to all that attended with a “Beat the Bong” challenge where the audience could pit their skills against Bong Ali’s Score of 74 points in six minutes and 54 seconds, no one on the day beat this score but the nearest entry was Adrian Frost (GM Birmingham Broad St) with a score of 68.


The Gauntlet was also thrown down to the General Managers with each of the Operations Directors/Regional Operations Managers asked to represent their area by asking a GM to com- pete. Paul Benton and Adrian Frost (Birmingham Broad Street), Paul Armitage and Paul Jones (London Golden Horseshoe), Richard Edwards and Matt Rudd (Walsall), Stuart Bowker and Wayne Sheekey (Hull) and Malcolm Beattie and Pete Watson (Blackpool) were brave enough to take on the challenge.

Dealers Skills Competition would not have achieved the growth in entries and improve- ments each year. TCSJH also ran a Big 6 compe- tition throughout the day for all to enter with the chance to win an iPad mini with the highest score winner on the day, Rebecca Oliver – F&B host Grosvenor Casino Coventry.
