IS IT JUST ME?... I know that the internet is a very
clever thing and that apps often seem to know us better than we know ourselves, but can someone please tell me how the weather app always knows when I am going to a destination? It must have inside knowledge
because for weeks before I head off somewhere it tells me that I will enjoy nothing but full sunshine, then, on the day I am due to go or the day I arrive, suddenly the sun changes to cloud and rain? Or, as we often say about technology…'Is it just me?’
DEJA VU ASH My most recent trip was to Kefalonia where it wasn’t the weather I had to worry about but the threat of another Icelandic ash cloud. I'm sure I wasn't alone with a sense of ‘déjà vu, but as it transpired the threat came to nothing. But it reminded me that there
is always a crisis going on somewhere in the world, and all we can do is brace ourselves and work through them. Kefalonia is a beautiful, hilly and
green island and the people are great. We self-catered but the owner of the villa, his wife and her mother brought us treats of homemade cooked meals, gorgeous cakes and deserts, wine and breakfast ingredients – which made it a 'self- catering' villa break like no other. It was a truly relaxing holiday.

GET APPY September was once the month that the next season's holidays went on sale and us agents would be busy with advance registrations, heading into work early to cope with the load. Over time January has become the time for ‘early bookings' but it's still worth telling clients that airline fares on release now are usually so much cheaper than in January. I usually try to book early myself but as I hope to visit my son and his girlfriend, who are currently
travelling around Austalia, I fi rst have to wait for them to stay in one place long enough! Instead, with the quieter season approaching, I'm getting my training up to scratch through Travel Uni. There are lots of fabulous prizes and trips on offer and isn't it amazing that we can get such rewards just for learning more about our great profession? So wise up and be like an
