Famtastic Alaska!

NORTH America Travel

Service’s senior travel consultant, Sharon McConway, jetted to Alaska for a seven-night trip onboard Un-Cruise Adventure's Safari Endeavour ship. "The Alaska portion of the Inside Passage has over 1000 islands and avoids some of the bad weather in the open waters of the Alaskan Gulf. It offers some of the world’s most breathtaking scenery, wildlife, food, native history and culture. "Juneau is an extremely walkable city and I found the vibe very relaxed and friendly. Downtown highlights include numerous historic buildings, the Mount Roberts Tramway (one of the most vertical tramways in the world) and the Glacier Gardens Rainforest Experience. "Then there is the awe-inspiring Mendenhall Glacier – a staggering 12 miles long. A helicopter trip to the top for dog sledging is to be highly recommended. "Un-Cruise Adventures was

my host for the cruise on its refurbished 84-guest small ship. The ship has a stylish intimate lounge, two hot tubs, sauna, fi tness equipment, yoga classes, and massage suite and serves delicious locally-sourced food and wine. Its kayak and paddleboard launch platform is great. "Across the three decks there are fantastic viewing spots and we saw over 50 different marine mammals and birds during the week including humpback whales,

bears, orcas, dolphins, sea lions, sea otters and bald eagles. "We took part in a wide range

of excursions and activities, from a slow meander across a shore line to adventure hiking across the mountaintops. "I loved drinking hot chocolate schnapps in a small skiff close to Youngs Glacier; we listened to the glacier calve. We also visited the small isolated community of Elfi n Cove. "I woke to different scenery

every day, from icebergs and green valleys to snow-capped peaks and the majestic landscapes of Glacier Bay National Park. "The Un-Cruise staff and ethos is fantastic. Their passion is incredible and they, like the scenery, left a lasting impression."
