PREVIEW PPMA 2014 FEEDING AND DENESTING TECHNOLOGIES
Feeding and product handling specialists Partners in Packaging (PiP) will showcase the latest feeding technologies from its principals in addition to developments in denesting. The Flowfold Two base card feeder and folder from Streamfeeder is designed for simple and repeatable operator size changing in less than two minutes. It has evolved through experience gained from installing over 1,800 machines in the UK market, says PiP. In addition, the Northfield Universal Bandolier feeder will be running continuously wrapped perforated bandolier (continuous string style) promotional inserts. The Universal is used to feed a variety
of 2D and 3D items including promotional coupons and dosing spoons into host machines such as baggers and cartoners. Also on show is PiP’s UK manufactured range of pick and place tray denesters. The high speed rotary machine RPP Quad will denest trays at speeds of up to 150/min. “We have incorporated the latest drive
and control system on offer to produce a very high speed yet flexible machine,” says director Duncan Macintyre. The latest design, the A Series Twin
intermittent denester will be demonstrated, handling a range of
deeper trays for later installation onto a flowrapper at a major pie manufacturer. The A Series Twin is a wash-down
stainless machine with quick size change adjustability with the added flexibility to handle deeper trays. Pip’s expertise enables the company to
offer machines to feed an extensive range of products from syringes and dose cups to trays and lids.

LOW COST THERMAL TRANSFER PRINTERS
Allen Coding will show a wide range of high performance marking and coding systems including its XL-Series of low cost thermal transfer coders for emerging markets and entry level variable print applications. The automatic ARF-1 feeder,
capable of handling cartons or sleeves up to a maximum of 375mm x 400mm will be featured with the Hitachi RX-S continuous ink jet coder. Further equipment on display is set to include the ICON laser coder and NGT2+ thermal transfer printer. Allen says its XL-Series does not compromise on print or system quality despite being up to 40% less expensive than other thermal transfer systems. In addition to a two-component,
space saving design the XL-Series features the iView colour touch screen with simple-to-use graphical user interface and multi-tasking touch module for convenient multi-printer operation, Ethernet and USB connectivity and duel processors (for communication and printing) to ensure high speed performance.
